AFL-CIO Convention Delegates Approve Resolutions on Healthcare

Delegates from AFL-CIO member unions voted to approve two resolutions regarding expanding Medicare and improving the ACA.

Resolution #54 "Affordable Care Act" was submitted by the Building and Construction Trades Department, the International Union of Operating Engineers and the American Federation of Teachers, calls on the AFL-CIO leadership to work with President Obama to improve the ACA by protecting negotiated benefits and eliminating the possibility of taxing any health benefits.   The resolution was nearly unanimous in support from the convention delegates.

Resolution #15 "Protecting and Expanding Medicare Benefits" directs the AFL-CIO leadership to  protect all medicare benefits and prevent any erosion of the program.  This resolution received unanimous support.
