Vermont Delegation Seeks to Remove Hurdles for State Single Payer

The three members of Vermont’s congressional delegation stood with Gov. Peter Shumlin Tuesday and pledged to do their best to remove federal obstacles obstructing speedy and dramatic health care reform in the state.

Sens. Patrick Leahy and Bernie Sanders and Rep. Peter Welch said they were already working the halls of Congress to muster support for a bill that would give Vermont and other states more flexibility in achieving the goals of the new federal health care law beginning in 2014 rather than waiting until 2017 to be allowed to experiment.
