Labor United Launches 2016 Re-Affiliation Campaign

On October 19, Labor United for Universal Healthcare officially launched our 2016 Re-Affiliation campaign. We staged a skit titled "U.S. Health Care System Trick or Treat?" at our booth at the annual Labor 411 trade Show and BBQ preceding the LA Labor Federation Delegates meeting at IATSE Local 80 in Burbank.

The goal of the presentation was to raise awareness among fellow union members that even though many of us have excellent health benefit plans, many of our brothers and sisters lack access to health care through exorbitant deductibles, co-pays or medication costs. Furthermore, millions of people will still be without health coverage even after the Affordable Care Act. This is wrong. Healthcare is a human right, and should be regarded as such. The private health insurance industry and its' stranglehold on patients and providers is the biggest "trick" of them all- and it doesn't have to be this way. Doctors and nurses should be able to provide care for their patients, and make medical decisions based on need, not cost. Millions of dollars are wasted every year on insurance CEO pay, overhead and marketing. Why?? This money could be spent to directly provide care for the millions of people who lack access to it, and we can make that happen. We can  build a truly sustainable, secure and just healthcare system for ALL!

How? Well, one way is to join Labor United for Universal Healthcare. Your union can become an affiliate, or you can join as an individual member. Join the ranks of the more that 40 allied Unions and Workers' centers that are standing up for human rights, dignity and health care for all.
