Healthcare & Equality

lew0-015

While the Affordable Care Act has helped millions get health insurance coverage, the inequality of healthcare in America is stunning. From access to treatment to health outcomes, the disparity affecting people of color and the poor is a disgrace.

Of all forms of inequality, injustice in healthcare is the most shocking and inhumane.  - Martin Luther King, Jr.

We still have a long way to go toward achieving a U.S. healthcare system that guarantees dignity and equality to all. Medicare, a proven single payer system, is a model to eliminate the disparities and inequalities in healthcare that continue to plague our country and economy. We can finish the job by expanding Medicare to everyone!

Today, the fight for dignity and respect continues. It involves voting rights, overcoming Islamophobia, and rejecting the scapegoating of immigrants. Today, a new generation of freedom fighters chant "Black Lives Matter" and Dreamers courageously stand up for legal status, the fight for a $15 minimum wage, and just healthcare for all.

We all recognize the fact that if any radical social, political and economic changes are to take place in our society, the people, the masses, must bring them about.  - Congressman John Lewis

As in all social political struggles, Labor's vision and action is vital to victory.
