Under Section 1332 of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), states can apply for a State Innovation Waiver "to implement innovative ways to provide access to quality health care that is at least as comprehensive and affordable as [the ACA]." Carlos Amador from the California Immigrant Policy Center will discuss the importance of the 1332 waiver to open up access to those currently excluded the ACA in the short run. A 1332 waiver is also required for any California initiative to create an improved Medicare for all.
